Hadith About the Importance of Salah
Introduction
Salah (prayer) is one of the major pillars of Islam. Salah is the link between a Muslim and Allah. In many authentic hadiths, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ highlighted the importance of Salah for Muslims. A Muslim, who safeguards his prayers, increases his faith and remains closer to Allah.
- Salah Is the Pillar of Islam
According to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:
“Religion is based on four things. The first thing is Islam, then Salah, which is the pillar of religion, and Jihad, which is its apex.”
Jami` at-Tirmidhi
Explanation
This hadith proves that Salah is the basis of a Muslim’s existence. Similarly, a building without any pillars is useless.
- Salah is the First Thing We Will Be Called to Account For
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,
“The first thing a servant (of God) will be questioned about on the Day of Judgment is the prayer.”
